Our K-1 class is a supportive and joyful environment where your child will explore and learn through free play as well as structured play. We focus on your child’s social and emotional learning, encouraging their natural curiosity, and we spend lots of time every day right outside our classroom doors in our backyard of rolling grass hills and ancient trees.

Our class is full of natural light and we welcome parents who want to participate in the classroom. Core curriculum is taught in an inviting, child-centered way with an emphasis on making learning fun. Your child’s days will be full of wonder, laughter, experimentation and the well-being that comes from being cherished for their unique spirit.

In addition to covering BC’s curriculum in math, science, reading and writing, your child will learn: empathy, creativity, self-regulation, a love of learning, problem solving, resilience, and that school is fun!

Our Grade 2-3 program continues to deepen your child’s social and emotional learning, with increasing opportunities for your child to pursue their natural curiosity with engaging project and inquiry-based curriculum.

Play-based learning remains a core teaching approach in this age group as your child acquires new skills and concepts in fun ways through structured games and free play. Moments of mindfulness and meditation, as well as quiet time and story time, bring a grounded energy into each day. Children also need to get out their “wiggles,” and frequent outdoor play gives them a chance to digest what they just learned and run around in the fresh air. Our class is full of natural light and we welcome parents who want to participate in the classroom. Each day, your child will have an opportunity to express their individuality and creativity in arts-based programs.

In addition to covering BC’s curriculum in math, science, language arts, and social studies, your child will learn: responsibility, discipline, a love of learning, leadership, teamwork, critical thinking, public speaking and empathy.

Our senior students take on the rewarding and character-building position as mentors and role models in our school. As your child prepares for the transition to high school, you will notice them maturing each day as we help them grow their empathy, resourcefulness and tenacity needed to contribute meaningfully to collaborative project-based work.

We know that this is a time of incredible brain growth for your child, and it is our job to meet their intellectual hunger and rapidly evolving social and emotional needs with a rich educational approach that presents school as a fascinating and fun place for mysteries to be solved, challenges to be met, conversations to be sparked and opportunities to be their true selves. Your child will spend at least 90 minutes playing in the fresh air each day, as well as discovering themselves through arts-based programs.

In addition to covering BC’s curriculum in math, science, French, language arts, and social studies, your child will learn: teamwork, healthy habits and relationships, how to be an initiator and advocate for their own learning, compassion, courage, global citizenship, adaptability, problem solving, creative thinking, and what it means to lead a happy and fulfilling life.
